After well over a year of moving around a dead car and searching for a second hand engines or other E46 M3 wrecks with running engines I was almost going to give up. Then my job situation changed and I had an opportunity, with both the time and resources now at my fingertips to make a full E46 M3 project viable I decided to investigate further. I toyed with the idea of getting an S54 crate motor from BMW, obviously an absurd notion, but this thought and Google led me to Lang Racing Development's website. I started pricing up a Lang Racing Development rebuild and although pricey I could build a significantly more bulletproof engine along with additional performance all for the price of getting a stock rebuild from BMW directly and for not too much more than quoted by BM Autohaus originally.
